Biography
Prof. Dr. Hamid Saeed obtained his B. Pharm degree from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of the Punjab in 1999. He then pursued higher education, completing his MPhil and PhD in Stem Cell Technology from the University of the Punjab and the University of Southern Denmark, respectively.
His academic journey continued with roles such as Assistant Professor at the University College of Pharmacy starting in 2011. He later embarked on postdoctoral research at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and the Sprott Center for Stem Cell Research in Canada. He also spent time at the School of Medicine at Stanford University on a competitive Postdoctoral fellowship, focusing on parathyroid hormone regulation via Gs alpha signaling and its impact on calcium homeostasis.
Throughout his career, Prof. Dr. Hamid Saeed has been an active speaker in his field and has authored over 150 articles in peer-reviewed journals such as JBMR, Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, and Stem Cell Reviews and Reports. He has received recognition for his work, including New Investigator and Allied Health Professional cash awards from the European Calcified and Tissue Society in the UK.
Recently, he has registered two clinical trials exploring the role of pharmacists in primary and tertiary healthcare to enhance patient outcomes. He has also secured a significant research grant from HEC, Pakistan, to study clinical biomarkers of breast cancer resistance for early diagnosis and optimal therapy selection.
Currently, Prof. Dr. Hamid Saeed serves as a Professor and Head of Pharmaceutics at the University College of Pharmacy, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan.He oversees his research laboratory, the Stem Cell and Nanomedicine Laboratory, focusing on drug repurposing, clinical biomarker identification, and various aspects of clinical and social pharmacy relevant to Pakistani society. He is currently working on breast cancer biomarkers, nanomedicine approaches to combat antibiotic resistance, chemo-resistance and a few projects are initiated to deal with the clinical pharmacy themes of utmost importance, public health and social aspects of Pakistani community that include, drug pricing, safe and efficacious use of cancer medicine, CVD and T2DM risks and their management, and ethical promotion of pharmaceuticals
